Weather and best time to visit Turkey

From June to September, temperatures typically range from 25–30°C, with very little rainfall, especially in coastal regions. To avoid the summer crowds and high prices but still enjoy pleasant temperatures, consider travelling in the shoulder season—April-May or late September to early November. During these months, the sea near Antalya remains warm, and you can enjoy mild temperatures and sunny weather.

Winter (November to March) is a great time to visit if you're interested in hiking, exploring cities like Istanbul, or skiing in the mountains. While it can be chilly, especially inland, it’s a great opportunity to experience Turkey in a more peaceful atmosphere with fewer tourists and lower prices.

How to get to Turkey

The easiest way to get to Turkey is by air. Many flights from Ireland go directly to popular airports like Dalaman and Antalya, which are close to major beach resorts. Flights from Dublin and Cork take around four to four-and-a-half hours. For Istanbul, direct flights from Dublin are also available, taking about four hours.

Alternatively, you can reach Turkey by ferry from a Greek island. Popular routes include Rhodes to Fethiye or Marmaris.

Getting around Turkey
