The Guinness Storehouse is another great place to spend an afternoon. Here you can go on a tour of the beautiful early 20^th-century building and learn about the history of the brand, while taking in panoramic views of the city from the top floor.

Dublin Castle is a top spot for history lovers. Despite its name, it’s not your typical fortification, but this grand old building is steeped in history and well worth a look. And to get to know more about the city’s literary legacy, pop to the Dublin Writer’s Museum to discover more about the life and work of Yeats, Joyce and Beckett among others.

Eating out and nightlife

If your perfect break involves getting out and letting your hair down, Dublin certainly won’t disappoint.

The city is packed with great bars and clubs, and its home to a thriving music scene with live bands dotted around many venues. Try traditional pubs like Bernard Shaw Bar and Fitzsimons for a really lively night out, and Globe or McGruder's if you’re after a trendy bar.

When it comes to dining out, there are plenty of different restaurants to try. High-end places include Michelin star restaurants Patrick Guilbaud and Chapter One. But for a more relaxed and budget-friendly meal, try one of the many lovely eateries like Antica Venezia or Aya.
